Touch Trigger Probes

Xspect New Renishaw

TP20 systems

The new industry-standard kinematic probe system with module changing.

The TP20 probe system is ideal for complex part measurement, where a range of stylus configurations is needed to access all features on the part.

Modules offering a range of trigger forces allow the probe performance to be accurately matched to the measurement in hand. A set of probe extensions is also available, as is a 6-way module.

The TP20 system is easily retrofitted and is compatible with existing touch trigger probe interfaces.

The system components are:

  • TP20 probe body.
  • TP20 probe module - seven variants allow optimization to suit application.
  • MCR20 module changing rack - automatic operation.
  • MSR1 module storage rack - manual operation.
  • Suitable for interfacing with Renishaw's PI 4-4, PI 7-2 or PI 200.

The probe body houses one half of the highly repeatable magnetic kinematic coupling that attaches the probe body and module. The body also contains a magnetic proximity switch to inhibit triggering of the probe during automatic module changing with MCR20.

The probe module houses the kinematic switching touch sensor mechanism, carries the stylus assembly and provides overtravel in +/-X, +/-Y and +Z axes (or +/-Z in the case of TP20 6-way module). The stylus mounting thread accepts styli from the Renishaw M2 range. A range of seven, application specific, probe modules are available and these are identified by colored caps:

  • SF - Standard force (black cap) suited to the majority of applications.
  • LF - Low force (green cap) where application requires low trigger forces, for example rubber seals.
  • MF - Medium force (grey cap) where higher force than SF is required.
  • EF - Extended force (brown cap) where large styus assemblies are to used and also where spurious 'air' triggers due to machine vibration preclude the use of SF or MF modules.
  • 6W - 6-way (blue cap) for applications requiring measurement in the -Z direction, for example when measuring the width of undercuts.
  • EM1 STD - 50mm extension module (black cap) for majority of applications.
  • EM2 STD - 75mm extension module (black cap) for majority of applications.

TP200 probe body

The TP200 probe system combines outstanding metrology performance with superior functionality to produce a highly versatile DCC CMM probing system.

The TP200 probe incorporates micro strain gauge transducers delivering excellent repeatability and accurate 3D form measurement even with long styli. The sensor technology gives sub-micron triggering performance and eliminates the lobing characteristics encountered with standard probes. The solid state ASIC electronics within the probe ensure reliable operation over millions of trigger points.
